MED-V 1.0: Error: “Failed to fetch policy from the server”

After upgrading the MED-V 1.0 Server to either SP1 or SP2, the MED-V clients may get the following error:

“Failed to fetch policy from the server.”

You may also get this same error when trying to open up the MED-V Management console.

This can happen if the server version is newer than the client. For example, the server may be version 1.0.200 yet the clients may be 1.0.105.

Upgrading the clients to the same version (or later) than the server is the only solution to this problem.

App-V: “A network error occurred” Error Message xxxxxxx-xxxxxx08-10000003

February 21, 2011 Leave a comment

After upgrading to the Application Virtualization 4.5 Management Server (Service Pack 1 or 2), you may get the following error when streaming applications via RTSP:

A network error occurred error :  4524284-15603808-10000003

You will also get this error if the installation is a clean installation.  Publishing/Refresh still works but streaming applications fails.

This can occur if the content path is set incorrectly in the registry. This is likely caused by an incorrect value set during the installation. Please note that this error is different from previous versions and does not yield the normal 1F4 or 194 error.

Solution is to correct the value for the content folder under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SoftGrid\4.5\Server

Value: SOFTGRID_CONTENT_DIR
